Nutrition Counseling

Nutrition counseling is a valuable part of our treatment approach at the Pain & Sleep Therapy Center. Our nutrition expert takes a holistic view, considering the connections between your diet, body systems, stress, lifestyle, and environment. Her goal is to target chronic diseases, reduce inflammation, and promote overall health through the consumption of nutrient-rich foods, supplements, and lifestyle changes.

Key Benefits of Nutrition Counseling

  • Can assess your diet to identify and eliminate foods that may be causing inflammation.
  • Many of our patients deal with chronic pain, and adjusting their diets to reduce inflammation can help alleviate their discomfort.
  • Nutrition counseling may involve keeping a food journal to uncover any additional triggers contributing to your chronic pain or inflammation.

Vitamin / Mineral Optimization Program

Our Vitamin / Mineral Optimization Program expands on our original Vitamin D Program to give a fuller picture of the nutrients your body needs for better sleep, pain recovery, and overall health. Through targeted lab testing and personalized supplementation, we identify deficiencies and imbalances and bring your levels into the ideal range.

Key Points about Our Vitamin / Mineral Optimization Program

  • The program tests for Magnesium, B12 and Folate, B6, Vitamin D, Iron and Ferritin, Zinc, a full thyroid panel (TSH, RT3, T4, T3), and Omegas.
  • We aim to keep each level within its ideal range, as levels that run too high or too low can both be problematic.
  • The program includes regular blood work and symptom journaling to track your progress and adjust supplementation as your levels improve.

SPG Blocks (Sphenopalatine Ganglion Blocks)

A minimally invasive procedure that delivers a local anesthetic to a cluster of nerve cells behind the nose. It is primarily used to instantly relieve and manage severe facial pain, cluster headaches, and migraines by blocking hyperactive pain pathways.

How SPG Blocks Work
  • TMJ pain often radiates to various parts of the head and face.
  • SPG Blocks use a thin applicator to administer anesthetic to the nerves associated with TMJ pain.
  • This results in rapid relief from referred pain due to the TMJ nerve, providing immediate comfort for facial and head pain caused by TMJ disorder.

Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF) Injections

An all-natural regenerative treatment. Using a small sample of your own blood, a specialized centrifuge isolates platelets and growth factors. Injected into the jaw, it stimulates tissue repair and reduces inflammation, and is frequently used to manage TMJ disorders and facial pain.

Benefits of PRF Injections
  • PRF injections are relatively painless and have a short recovery period.
  • Many patients experience significant symptom improvement after just a few sessions.
  • PRF injections can often eliminate the need for more aggressive treatments.

Prolotherapy

Prolotherapy is an injection-based treatment aimed at relieving pain by stimulating your body’s natural healing processes. It’s effective for musculoskeletal conditions involving bones, muscles, tendons, ligaments, and soft tissues.
How Prolotherapy Works
  • Prolotherapy involves injecting a mild irritant, typically a dextrose solution, into the affected area.
  • This treatment jumpstarts your body’s natural healing abilities, addressing musculoskeletal issues.
  • Prolotherapy can help alleviate pain and promote healing without the need for surgery or long-term medication.

B12 Injections

B12 injections deliver a concentrated dose of the vitamin directly into the bloodstream, bypassing the digestive tract. They are highly effective at combating fatigue.

Key Benefits of B12 Injections
  • Delivers a concentrated dose of vitamin B12 directly into the bloodstream.
  • Bypasses the digestive tract, which can limit how much of an oral supplement is absorbed.
  • Highly effective at combating fatigue.

GLP-1 / Semaglutide

GLP-1 medications such as semaglutide are an emerging option for patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Clinical trials show these medications significantly lower the apnea-hypopnea index (AHI) and may help reduce systemic inflammation.

Benefits for Obstructive Sleep Apnea
  • Weight loss
  • Improved airway function
  • Reduced inflammation
  • Support for cardiometabolic health

Wharton's Jelly Injections

Wharton's Jelly injections utilize placental tissue for regenerative purposes in the jaw, offering a powerful regenerative treatment.

Key Points about Wharton’s Jelly Injections
